Mother Rock White (Chenin Blanc, Viognier, and Grenache Blanc)

Mother Rock is an organic, natural wine that’s fresh, zesty and full of life! It’s citrus notes blend with ripe pear and apple flavours.

What’s so cool: Johan ‘Stompie’ Meyer is a rising star in South Africa’s new wave of winegrowers, held in high esteem by drinkers and critics alike.

This wine as a person: The South African version of ‘Lil Kim, sassy in all the right places.

Hails from: Swartland, South Africa

Perfect with:  Roast chicken, curries, roasted vegetables, rich fish dishes and anything in a creamy sauce.

What the experts say: "This sports ripe tangerine, clementine and persimmon notes, offset by racy streaks of honeysuckle. A lingering lemon gélee accent adds length.” Distinctive and delicious. 91 points from Wine Spectator.

Grapes: 61% Chenin Blanc, 16% Viognier, 11% Grenache Blanc, 8% Semillon, 4% Harslevelu

Nerd stuff: Grapes are fermented with natural yeast, half in stainless steel at 58°F, and half in older 300 liter barrels. 15% of grapes were whole bunch fermented and spent 4 weeks on the skins. The wine ages for 12 months on the gross lees, after which it is blended and bottled without fining or filtering. Grapes are farmed organically with minimal intervention.
